There are two types of ways you can record from either a video or live stream. The easiest way is to use a screen recorder like Ocam.

Here are some screen recorders.

There are most likely many others if someone want to use something else but these are the ones i can think of.

The other way is to use a stream recorder that records without the screen the one advantage of this is you can do stuff on your computer where a screen recorder you can't.

This is the one i use and records from most sites.

I will try to do a demonstration on how to use both if i have time this weekend.

Is tubedigger the best option if there is a short time limited playback on the streams?

For example, oCam I find easy to use but you have to be present within the time limit of the thing you want to record. Say if the playback limit is 4 hours, you want to record something at 9am but you're too late at 3pm.

I don't understand you fully but Tubedigger can also download videos so if the playback goes back 4 hours it might pick it up and download the four hours i'm not sure as i haven't tried it on anything lately that streams live and goes back 4 hours if you know anything let me know and i can check.

I guess I meant to ask can Tubedigger record videos without having the videos open on screen, and can you record multiple cams? Can you give the program the url for each feed and then tell it to record between certain times?

As far as I can tell with Ocam, if you want to record something in advance, you would have to have a stream open and just leave it recording. Of course, that means you can just record one cam. If you want to record a mix of stuff from different cams, you would have to do one at a time, plus you also have to make sure you are there within how many hours they give you for playback. For example, for BB Finland it is only 4 hours. Getting footage from multiple cams would require you to be at your computer within the 4 hours of the scene you want to record and then cap one cam at a time if both cams are showing different angles. Hope I made that more clear.

Yes you can you don't need to have the webpage open you can close it I will have to do a video on it to show how it works.

Ok here is a quick recording of some live streams they were from the same website so i had two different streams that i was able to record you can add lots more. I hope you can understand what's going on.

In the pics the mouse in the pictures shows what i'm referring to or pressing.

PIC Number is the button that switches between D-L mode and Rec Mode. D-L mode is you can close out the website and the file will continue to record. Rec mode is like a screen recorder you have to have the website open once you close the website the file will stop recording. Although this might be the same as Ocam it is confined to the program so you can still do other work on your pc and Tubedigger will still record. If some site won't work on D-L Mode and will on REC mode then this will have to be used.

PIC Number 2 is the button that closes the website so you can add more websites or more streams from the same website.

PIC Number 3 some streams will give a list of different recording quality i always select 1080P the highest resolution of the recording. I'm just going down the list and picking the quality i want it says IDLE once i right click on my mouse i select start recording.

PIC Number 4 is once i'm finished adding what i want to record it shows the list of streams that's recording and the blank website.

A note to add if you don't close out the website it will keep adding files in Tubedigger and maybe automatically start recording them by itself so IT'S IMPORTANT TO CLOSE THE WEBSITE OR YOU WILL HAVE A MASSIVE LIST OF FILES OR FILES RECORDING YOU DON'T WANT TAKING UP SPACE ON YOUR COMPUTER.

If anyone has any questions let me know.

Here's a quick guide on how to use oCam, it is very easy to use so hopefully it will get more people to start capping.

Open up the program and you will see 9 small squares on the edge of the screen. It should already be dragged out right to the edge so that it captures the full screen, but if not you can drag all these out yourself.

Go to the Big Brother (or other show) live stream that you want to capture and make sure it is in full screen mode.

Also make sure the small green squares are visible. If you minimise the oCam program they will go away so make sure it is not minimised and squares are visible.

Find the part of the stream you want to cap. Press F2 to start recording and then F2 again to stop recording. The green squares disappear when recording starts and reappear once you stop recording.  If you want to capture a bunch of parts in the same video you can pause by pressing the shift key and F2 together. Say you want to record a bit but the next part is 3 minutes later; you would do the following: Start recording as normal by pressing F2 and get the first part, press shift and F2 together to pause recording, find the next part in the stream and unpause by pressing shift and F2 again, keep repeating this process until you have everything you want recorded, then press F2 to end recording.

Your capped videos should be found in oCam folder within Documents on Windows, I'm sure you can change to another folder if you want in the options, which are under the top left menu.

If you are using Chrome, you may have to disable hardware acceleration in settings before recording as it can lead to recording a blank black screen instead of the actual stream.

That's pretty much all there is to it.

I can only speak for OCam as that's the only one I've ever used, but for that all you need to do is open the link with VLC and then follow the instructions I posted above. It records anything you have on the screen so you just open up VLC in fullscreen and use OCam on it.

Thank you very much I will test it today
